Job Objective

Your contributions will be essential in supporting the development of airframe design, structural integrity assessments, flight testing, and compliance with certification standards.

The Loads and Dynamics team at American Honda Motor Co Inc is currently seeking applications for the position of Loads Engineer. Candidates should possess a solid foundation in relevant aircraft design loads through their academic and professional experiences.



Primary Responsibilities

As a Loads and Dynamics Engineer, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Calculating 1) Engine loads; 2) Component loads
  • Assessing aircraft control surface loads and various miscellaneous loads such as doors, windows, and pressurization systems.
  • Conducting design loads analysis utilizing both commercial and proprietary tools and methodologies.
  • Providing innovative design solutions to a range of technical challenges related to Loads and Dynamics.
  • Engaging in aircraft development initiatives and facilitating collaboration among diverse design teams.
  • Formulating airframe design loads based on established Loads and Dynamics criteria in line with certification mandates.
  • Creating mass properties and aerodynamic databases necessary for constructing design analysis models and computing static and dynamic loads.
  • Preparing Loads and Dynamics certification documentation.



Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related STEM field from an ABET accredited institution is required; a Master's degree or PhD in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in generating aircraft design loads, performing structural and flight testing, and practical experience in developing analysis models.
  • Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective interaction with regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux, FORTRAN, C/C++, MATLAB, VBA, MSC/NASTRAN, MSC/PATRAN, MSC/FLIGHTLOADS, CATIA, and Python is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
