Job Summary

The Grand Rapids Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated EL Interventionist to provide targeted academic second language and grade level supports to eligible English Learner students in all core content areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and deliver academic support services to eligible EL students, including individualized instruction and small group work.
  • Manage and maintain accurate student records, including progress monitoring and data analysis.
  • Develop and implement effective instructional strategies to support EL students' academic growth and achievement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure seamless delivery of services and support.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in working with EL students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the English Learners Executive Director.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in TESOL, ESL, or related field.
  • ESL/Bilingual Spanish endorsement or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Michigan teacher's certificate or equivalent.
  • SIOP Training or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of WIDA and Common State Standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust/focus.
