Job Title: NICU Registered Nurse

At Amergis, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate NICU Registered Nurse to join our team. As a NICU RN, you will provide high-quality patient care to newborn babies who are delivered pre-term or at-term, and experience complications at the time of birth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care of the neonatal patient and coordinate with healthcare team members.
  • Care for infants transitioning to extrauterine life.
  • Provide age and culturally appropriate care to patients.
  • Provide nutritional assessment and specialized feedings.
  • Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs.
  • Provide arterial and intravenous therapy.
  • Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, such as incubators and ventilators.
  • Assist NICU Physician during examination, treatment, and procedures, which can include lifesaving measures.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating changes in patient's condition, document changes, and inform physician/charge nurse.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information from healthcare members and document actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses.
  • Identify and prioritize actions based upon patient care requirements.
  • Perform interventions according to identified priorities, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard.
  • Provide a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic patient/family environment.
  • Initiate and evaluate family education.
  • Document and revise the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions.
  • Participate in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility.

Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse license for the state in which the nurse practices.
  • One year NICU experience required.
  • NRP card per contract requirement.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
