Job Summary

This position plays a vital role in providing direct and indirect Occupational Therapy (OT) services to Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health (BH) inpatients at ECHN. The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager to develop treatment plans, coordinate assessments, and provide consultations to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient's level of functioning and treatment needs through comprehensive reviews of clinical information.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate treatment plans, including specific, measurable, and time-specific goals and interventions.
  • Communicate and coordinate patient's plan of care with the treatment team to ensure successful patient outcomes.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner, adhering to ECHN Departmental/Behavioral Health standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide supervision on group topics and group skills to inpatient staff, promoting a comprehensive approach to patient care.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing pertinent clinical information to enhance patient planning and feedback.
  • Respond to needs for individualized and comprehensive services, providing services individually and/or in a group setting.
  • Increase the visibility of Occupational Therapy services by promoting recovery through functionally based therapeutic modalities.
  • Effectively manage violent or potentially violent situations using Physical Management Training (PMT) techniques.
  • Participate in Early Response codes and Dr. Strong codes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from an Accredited College or University.
  • State OTR license required.
  • Training in PMT and de-escalation techniques, with certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience working with the chronic BH/psychiatric population preferred.
Competencies
  • Strong clinical skills, including a demonstrated strong team orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, using the English language.
  • Computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Flexibility in approach to meet each patient's needs.
  • Excellence in time management.
  • Ability to take swift and efficient action, including patient restraint when responding to patient emergency codes.
