This Shipfitter Specialist role involves working on Naval Bases & Shipyards in Jacksonville/Mayport Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading and comprehending instructions, drawings, and general correspondence in English. They must also have a comprehensive understanding of ship repair terminology and nomenclature.

• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, sketches, specifications, and NAVSEA standard items and Navy damage control diagrams.
• Experience fabricating templates, squaring plates, scribing in structures, and installing perpendiculars on ships according to drawings, specifications, or sketches.
• Welding experience using SMAW (S-11A), FCAW (S-1), and GMAW (S-25) techniques.

• Must comply with OSHA and NAVSEA standards.
• Complete daily work assignments and provide status of unfinished work for shift turnover.
• Measure, lay out, and mark structures to be removed using drawings, specifications, and sketches.
• Cut out existing structures as required by the drawings or specifications, or as directed by the supervisor.
