Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at MyMichigan Medical Center - Midland. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for accurately applying ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, utilizing a variety of technical procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic radiographs with minimal radiation exposure to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Procedures: Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, applying ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, and utilizing accurate application of ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
  • Patient Positioning: Position patients and equipment appropriately to accurately demonstrate the area being examined, requiring extensive anatomic positioning skills.
  • Radiation Protection: Provide appropriate radiation protection for patients and staff during radiation exposures, adhering to prescribed safety standards.
  • Technical Factors: Adjust technical factors to provide appropriate exposure, utilizing independent judgment, knowledge of human anatomy, effect of disease on the radiograph, and principles of radiation, as well as the specific operation of all radiologic equipment within the department.
  • Assistance: Assist radiologists as needed in performance of sterile procedures, such as biopsies, myelograms, etc.
  • Surgical and Portable Radiography: Perform surgical and portable radiographic procedures as assigned.
  • Nursing Procedures: Perform nursing procedures, including preparation and administration of various forms of radiologic contrast media and medications, and catheterizations.
  • Contrast Media: Have knowledge to readily identify and treat allergic reactions to contrast media.
  • Sterile Technique: Practice sterile technique.
  • Continuing Education: Maintain professional acumen through active association with professional organizations and evidence of continuing education in radiography as necessary to remain current with the profession.
  • Computer Operations: Initiate requisitions, add or modify charges, acknowledge exams, requiring the use of the computer.
  • Equipment Malfunction: Ability to recognize and report malfunction of radiographic equipment appropriately.
Requirements
  • Experience: 1+ Years of X-ray Experience - Required
  • Certifications: ARRT & BLS (AHA) - Required
  • Work History: Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to specialty
  • References: 2 Supervisory References, from the past 12 months of employment
  • License/Certifications: License/Certifications (ARRT & BLS(AHA) - Facility will not pend license/certs)
  • Geographic Location: Candidates' Permanent Address (Facility will not consider local candidates - 50 mile radius restriction)
