Louisville, Kentucky, United States UofL Health - Jewish Hospital Full time

We are seeking a skilled Electrophysiology Nurse Specialist to join our team at UofL Health - Jewish Hospital.

About the Role

As an Electrophysiology Nurse Specialist, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to heart rhythm disorders. You will work closely with electrophysiologists and other healthcare professionals to assist in the management of arrhythmias, conduct diagnostic tests such as electrophysiology studies (EPS), and support patients through procedures like catheter ablation, pacemaker or defibrillator implantation, and other treatments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough pre-procedure assessments of patients, including reviewing medical history, current medications, allergies, and previous cardiac conditions.
  • Educate patients and their families about the electrophysiology procedure, including the purpose, potential risks, and expected outcomes.
  • Ensure patients are appropriately prepared for the procedure, including obtaining informed consent, performing vital sign checks, and ensuring lab work is completed (e.g., EKG, blood work).

You will also assist with catheter insertion, monitor patient status prior to the procedure, and administer sedatives and analgesics as ordered. Post-procedure care includes monitoring patients for complications and providing education on post-procedure care, including wound care, activity restrictions, medication management, and recognizing signs of potential complications.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need expert knowledge of cardiac care, advanced electrophysiology techniques, and the ability to work in high-stakes, fast-paced environments. A strong communication skill set and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams are essential.

What We Offer

UofL Health - Jewish Hospital offers a competitive salary range of $59,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. Our hospital is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters growth and development for all employees.
