Job Summary:

Advanced Technology Services is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our team of industrial maintenance professionals. As a Tool and Die Maker, you will be responsible for performing complex repairs and adjustments to die sets, inspecting and troubleshooting common failures, and developing technical documents to support your work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs and adjustments to complex die sets, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot common failures associated with Tool and Die, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and write concise technical documents, including repair findings and reports, to support maintenance activities.
  • Heat-treat tools or parts, applying knowledge of heat treatment processes to ensure optimal performance.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining, ensuring accurate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Smoothe flat and contoured surfaces, using scrapers, abrasive stones, and power grinders, and fit and assemble parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms, using hand tools.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary technical training or certification in a related field, such as tool and die making or industrial maintenance.
  • At least five years of related experience with tool and die tasks, including repairs and adjustments.
  • At least two years of previous experience with measurement processes and equipment capabilities used in order to perform repairs and adjustments to complex die sets.
  • Previous experience with electronic drawing software, such as AutoCad, Pro-E, or Solid Works, and ability to modify existing drawings.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment processes as applied to Tool and Die components.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis, reliability studies, and performance enhancements.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use close vision and color vision. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Work is typically performed in a factory environment and is usually very loud. In the factory environment, the employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery factory floors.
