Anesthesia Technician (Full Time, Day shift)
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Surgical Services Directors and Chief Anesthesiologist, the Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in delivering care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position is essential in preparing for surgeries, providing necessary supplies, and assisting during and after the procedures. Additionally, the technician is responsible for efficient supply management and ordering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently orders, retrieves, and organizes medications within the anesthesia carts, ensuring timely inspections for expiration dates.
- Assists in patient care activities under the guidance of Anesthesiologists and RN circulators.
- Conducts cleaning, maintenance, and safety checks of all anesthesia equipment in accordance with Infection Control standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions while interacting with patients and handling equipment.
- Engages in training and educating colleagues on departmental procedures.
- Maintains accurate inventory records, including ordering, receiving, and storing of equipment and supplies.
- Ensures the anesthesia supply room and operating rooms are kept clean and organized.
- Collaborates with the OR Supply Coordinator and Material Services to streamline purchasing processes.
- Participates in monitoring and documenting quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Preferred experience of two years in a clinical Anesthesia Technician role.
- Certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians is preferred.
- EMT certification is also preferred.
