Job Overview:

The Cardiac Services Nursing Supervisor is a registered nurse exhibiting exceptional leadership capabilities, operational oversight, and specialized knowledge in managing patients undergoing invasive cardiovascular interventions.

This role involves a high level of professionalism in directing the planning, execution, and assessment of care programs for both adult and pediatric patients undergoing invasive cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures, ensuring a seamless continuum of care.


Key Responsibilities:
Oversees and coordinates departmental activities (Cath Lab/EP/Pre and Post Recovery area).
Implements and evaluates process enhancements to improve safety and quality outcomes.
Responsible for the recruitment, promotion, termination, and transfer of staff.
Manages the scheduling and staffing requirements of the units around the clock.
Facilitates relevant in-service training and continuing education programs tailored to departmental needs.
Ensures staff proficiency across all departmental areas.
Monitors, tracks, and reports on trends in quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, productivity, and operational metrics.
Conducts leadership rounding.
Reviews and interprets reports, records, and directives.
Analyzes costs, prepares budgets, and evaluates staff performance.
Collaborates effectively with all departments to ensure quality patient care.

Develops and enforces clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and professional standards.

Works alongside administration and medical directors to enhance service delivery and foster growth.

Maintains accurate inventory and quality control records for all assigned equipment, ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules.


General Duties:
Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN is mandatory.

Experience:
At least two (2) years of supervisory or charge experience in relevant specialty areas.
Licenses/Certifications:

Required:

Current RN License issued by the appropriate state board of nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).

Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire.

Knowledge and Skills:
Comprehensive understanding of diagnostic and interventional cardiac and vascular catheterization theories, practices, and procedures.
Familiarity with general cardiac and electrophysiology practices, protocols, and procedures.
Knowledgeable in the recovery process for patients undergoing invasive cardiac procedures and the discharge planning process.
Managerial skills sufficient for organizing, developing, prioritizing, and supervising multiple departments and staff.

In-depth knowledge of managerial principles, including operating budgets, personnel management, staffing, inventory control, performance improvement, statistical analysis, and report preparation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey ideas and directives clearly and effectively.
Able to perform clinical functions as necessary.
