Nutrition Assistant

Job Summary

The Nutrition Student Assistant will provide support to the school nutrition team in serving hot and cold food items to students and faculty. This role requires a strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a positive demeanor in stressful situations and work under pressure to consistently meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Safely serve hot and cold food items to students and faculty coming through the foodservice line.
Restock food items as needed on the foodservice line.
Clean and sanitize surrounding foodservice line area.
Observe strict personal hygiene procedures and follow procedures to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.

Requirements

Must be at least 14 years old as reviewed by the Department of Human Resources. Verification is required.
Must acquire and maintain a current Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe certification prior to beginning work.
Prior related job experience preferred.
Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cooperate with staff.
Ability to maintain a positive demeanor in stressful situations and work under pressure to consistently meet tight deadlines.
Requires basic computer skills. Competence in reading, writing, and basic math.
Ability to read, understand and follow standard operating procedures (SOP).

Working Conditions

This position requires occasional lifting from floor to waist or carrying up to 25 pounds. Requires constant standing and/or walking. Requires occasional sustained bending and reaching. Requires occasional squatting, kneeling or half-kneeling. May endure high heat.
