Job Summary

As a Radiation Therapist at Owensboro Health, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and treatment services. This position requires a strong foundation in radiation therapy, patient assessment, and treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists/physicists.
  • Evaluate patients for appropriate response to treatment and report any adverse reactions.
  • Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters accurately, maintaining a high degree of accuracy in positioning and treatment techniques while utilizing radiation protection procedures.
  • Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy according to established policies and procedures.
  • Verify completion of prescriptions, appropriate signatures, and patient consents.
  • Operate equipment in the Linac treatment room, including the Linear accelerator, OBI, portal imager, Protura couch, and HDR unit.
  • Fabricate individualized immobilization, custom blocks, and other beam-modifying devices.
  • Apply the ALARA principle to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and other members of the radiation oncology team.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in Science required upon hire.
  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field required upon hire.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • No experience required.
  • RT(T) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Radiation Therapy required upon hire.
  • ROC - Radiation Operator Certification in the state of Kentucky required upon hire.
  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position.
