Under the guidance of the Charge Nurse and CNA Supervisor, the Certified Nurse Aide will provide direct care to residents in the Care Center, adhering to TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, as well as organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Effective communication with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies is essential, while maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities- Assume direct resident care responsibilities, including AM and PM care, backrubs, assisting with ambulation, dietary needs, dressing, and undressing residents, and changing bed linen.
- Carry out Special Orders or treatments as directed by the Charge Nurse, including special skincare, collecting specimens, intake and output measurements, vital signs, compresses, and enemas.
- Ensure adherence to proper infection control, OSHA, and safety standards.
- Provide encouragement to residents and family members.
- Observe resident conditions and report any untoward signs, symptoms, or unusual occurrences.
- Maintain current documentation of resident status on Activity of Daily Living Sheet and provide report to Charge Nurse.
- Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
- Answer resident call-lights promptly.
- Escort residents to other hospital services and/or departments as needed.
- Accept and complete Special Assignments in a timely manner.
- Assist other staff in completing their duties.
- Maintain certification in accordance with hospital, state, federal, and TJC regulations and guidelines.
- Education level equivalent to completion of high school, and/or completion of Certified Nurse Aide Training course of study.
- Valid unencumbered Georgia Certified Nurse Aid Certification, and current Basic Life Support CPR.
- One year of experience in healthcare as a CNA is preferred.
