Key Responsibilities
The Registered Vascular Technologist is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular sonography examinations independently. The key duties include:
- Utilizing two patient identifiers for verification.
- Ensuring accuracy by comparing the physician's order with the requisition.
- Gathering comprehensive medical histories and completing necessary documentation.
- Conducting clinical assessments and various diagnostic vascular laboratory tests.
- Employing cognitive sonographic skills to capture and document relevant anatomical and pathological images.
- Coordinating with supervisors to manage workload and ensure timely completion of studies.
- Ensuring patient safety and comfort during examinations.
- Maintaining accurate logs of patient interactions and billing.
- Adhering to lab protocols while exercising clinical judgment when necessary.
- Summarizing technical findings and communicating preliminary results to referring physicians.
- Completing structured reports and measurements accurately.
- Maintaining ultrasound equipment and ensuring the workspace is well-stocked.
- Fostering ethical relationships with colleagues and external agencies.
- Assisting in the training and orientation of new staff and students.
- Monitoring patient conditions and reporting any changes to the supervising physician.
- Communicating patient information effectively to relevant parties.
- Utilizing diagnostic applications and communication tools safely and efficiently.
- Demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited Sonography program with credentials in Vascular Sonography (RDMS or CCI).
- Current AHA BLS certification.
- ARDMS or CCI credentials in Vascular Sonography or the ability to obtain them within one year of hire.
- Commitment to maintaining 12 CME credits annually.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $44.19 per hour.
