Position Overview

We are currently in search of part-time, adjunct clinical instructors to facilitate clinical instruction at our campus. This role is appointed on a semester basis and has the potential for renewal.

Role Definition

The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise and assess students in a clinical environment. This contract is subject to renewal each semester.

Key Responsibilities

All faculty members are expected to adhere to the regulations set forth in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook. Additionally, the following responsibilities are outlined:

Clinical Duties
  • Follow the guidelines established by the Concordia University School of Nursing.
  • Familiarize oneself with Concordia's nursing philosophy and framework (review relevant handbooks).
  • Understand policies regarding clinical attire, attendance, and evaluation processes.
  • Coordinate with the clinical facility for orientation.
  • Guide students in acclimating to the clinical environment.
  • Arrive at the facility ahead of scheduled clinical hours to prepare.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate nursing care for assigned clients.
  • Collaborate effectively with clinical facility staff.
  • Integrate theoretical knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Assess clinical assignments promptly (typically within 48 hours).
  • Provide ongoing verbal and written feedback to students, including mid-rotation and end-of-rotation evaluations.
  • Identify students needing additional support and initiate referrals as necessary.
  • Communicate any concerns to the course coordinator and clinical liaison.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance in the clinical setting.
Professional Engagement
  • Stay updated on current clinical practices relevant to the teaching area.
  • Maintain awareness of contemporary teaching methodologies.
  • Annually update your curriculum vitae.
  • Engage in professional and community organizations.
  • Support the mission of Concordia University.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a professional nurse in Michigan.
  • A Master of Science in Nursing degree is required.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience is necessary.
  • A recommendation from a current nurse manager is preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in a baccalaureate nursing program is advantageous.
  • Current knowledge of clinical practices within the teaching area is essential.
  • Attendance at clinical coordination meetings is required.
  • Active participation in a Christian Church is expected.
