Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment, patient care equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, and controls.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair patient care equipment, including beds, carts, tables, blood pressure devices, surgery equipment, and other medical equipment.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical/electrical systems, including pneumatic tube, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, piped medical gas, and specialized water systems.
  • Assist with monitoring utility systems to ensure efficient operations.
  • Perform routine to moderately complex general maintenance functions, including carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
  • Compute job costs and order parts, equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintain current daily logs, preventive maintenance records, and equipment repair files to comply with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in construction, remodeling, and maintenance projects.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and perform equipment safety checks.
Requirements
  • Mechanic Education and Certification for Healthcare (MECH) issued by the Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association (WHEA) within 3 years.
  • A valid driver's license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
  • High School Graduate.
  • No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Current driving record meeting Aurora fleet safety standards.
  • Knowledge and basic proficiency in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating, and groundskeeping.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and problem solve.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, twist, climb, and reach above shoulders at least 50% of the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs from floor to overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to chest-level.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance.
  • Ability to push/pull with 50 lbs of force.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards.
  • Temperature in working environment varies from (-10) to 90 degrees and atmosphere often contains fumes, odors, and dust.
  • Position requires travel and may be exposed to road and weather hazards.
