About the Role:

The American Red Cross is seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a Laboratory Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals in need by performing testing procedures on donor and patient samples.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high complexity testing and resolve histocompatibility issues.
  • Review and interpret test results, ensuring accurate record-keeping and maintaining quality control.
  • Evaluate, validate, and implement new laboratory techniques; participate in special projects and analyze testing data.
  • Communicate with medical facility personnel, participate in sample coordination and transportation, and maintain equipment.
  • Specialized testing, report preparation, and maintaining accurate records; may consult with other medical facilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and prior experience in HLA or molecular genetics labs, including DNA extractions, PCR amplification, or certification as a Molecular Diagnostic Specialist.
