Job Overview:


The Custodian 2 role entails executing routine manual duties to uphold cleanliness, sanitary standards, and the overall aesthetic of all facilities.

This position also involves preparing for meetings, special occasions, and delivering supplies and surplus equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

50% Perform independently as a custodian or collaborate with a team to execute various tasks related to the maintenance of campus buildings and the Bengal Village Apartment Complex. Duties include vacuuming, scrubbing, carpet shampooing, pressure washing, dusting, restroom sanitation, waste disposal, window cleaning, and more.

Participate in a specialized floor maintenance team, focusing on the primary responsibility of stripping, waxing, and buffing floors using industrial-grade equipment.

40% Engage in a specialized moving and setup team, primarily responsible for relocating various items such as furniture, supplies, and surplus items across campus and off-campus as needed. This includes arranging setups for on-campus meetings, commencement ceremonies, and outdoor events, involving tasks like arranging and removing tables, chairs, tents, stages, fans, banners, and trash receptacles.

10% Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

In accordance with University Policy Statement 72, this position is considered essential and may require reporting or remaining on campus during emergencies or closures.

Physical capability to perform manual tasks is essential. Candidates must be able to walk throughout the assigned area, ascend and descend stairs multiple times daily, and stand for extended periods. Must be capable of stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and able to move objects weighing at least 20 lbs while transporting cleaning carts and various equipment throughout the facility.
