About Us:
We are a leading real estate development firm committed to enhancing the communities of NJ, NY, and PA through the development of modern residential multi-family units, commercial office spaces, and industrial properties. Our extensive portfolio includes 9,000 rental apartments and 6 million square feet of commercial real estate.
Position Overview:
We are in search of a dynamic Financial Controller to oversee our accounting team and manage critical financial operations. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in property budgeting, financial forecasting, monthly closing activities, accounts receivable/payable, cash management, and ensuring adherence to GAAP standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the accounting team.
- Manage the monthly closing process, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements across all accounts and ledgers.
- Produce and review financial reports accurately and promptly, communicating results to internal stakeholders and partners.
- Assist in the annual preparation of property budgets and financial forecasts.
- Document monthly financials, property budgets, annual audits, and tax returns.
- Identify and implement processes to enhance internal efficiencies and maintain the integrity of financial data.
- Establish and manage the financial reporting IT system.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience in real estate, construction, commercial, and multi-family sectors.
- 5-10+ years of experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior accounting role within the Real Estate or Construction industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting, with excellent skills in data analysis and forecasting.
- Proficiency in Yardi (or similar software) and advanced MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience in preparing annual property budgets.
- Expertise in managing the monthly closing process for billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA certification and/or experience in public accounting audits.
- Experience in both commercial and multi-family sectors.
- Prior experience in managing the implementation of new accounting or financial reporting software.
