Essential Functions of the Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary assessments of patients
  • Act at the direction of the treating physical therapist and in accordance with the plan of care
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of the plan of care in partnership with patients, representatives, and caregivers
  • Provide services ordered by physicians as indicated in the plan of care
  • Assist the treating physical therapist in documenting patient progress and response to treatment
  • Complete and submit timely, accurate, and relevant documentation addressing treatment and interventions provided, patient response, and progress toward goals
  • Counsel and educate patients and their families, as well as other caregivers, to promote patient progress and meet healthcare-related needs
  • Effectively communicate with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote coordination of patient care and planning for discharge
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare practitioners related to the current plan of care
  • Access personal health information necessary to fulfill duties and responsibilities
Requirements for the Physical Therapist Assistant Position
  • Current licensure as a physical therapist assistant in the state of Michigan
  • At least two years of experience as a physical therapist assistant in the last five years
  • Active CPR certification
  • Previous home health experience is a plus
