We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. As a LPN on our Complex Medical Unit, you will provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities- Initiate admission database and history, and collaborate with the RN to implement patient and family teaching and care needs.
- Practice in compliance with all regulatory standards and adhere to all hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties.
- Perform and prioritize nursing care tasks, accurately following the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of a RN.
- Observe and report nursing interventions and patient responses, and document in a timely, concise, and legible manner.
- Recognize, respond, and report changes in patient conditions to RN Team Leader.
- Participate in unit-specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested.
- Demonstrate principles of infection control, collaborating with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
- Assist in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
- Administer IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids per established hospital protocol.
- Perform specific advanced patient care treatments as approved to perform per hospital protocol.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards. Complete required education assignments annually. Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- No prior experience as a LPN/LVN needed.
