Frederick County Public Schools is seeking a qualified Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from various schools on regular routes.
Job SummaryThe Bus Driver will be responsible for driving a school bus safely and efficiently, while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a clean driving record, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities- Drive a school bus safely and efficiently to transport students to and from various schools on regular routes.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance, including a neat and clean uniform.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the school bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Assist with loading and unloading students with disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to improve driving skills and knowledge of school bus operations.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger and school bus endorsement.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Five (5) years of driving experience, during which time you held a valid driver's license.
- Ability to read and write the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and students.
- No more than two (2) current points on driving record and a satisfactory past driving record.
- Ability to use and maintain FCPS email account.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. with frequent climbing.
- Current CDL holder and previous school bus driving experience.
The Bus Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, parents, and school staff on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
