City Fleet Mechanic

Position Overview:
As a vital member of the City of Oviedo's maintenance team, you will engage in the skilled upkeep of the municipal fleet. Your primary responsibility will be to identify and rectify mechanical and electrical issues across a diverse range of vehicles, including light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, emergency response vehicles, and specialized equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough diagnostics and repairs on various City vehicles and equipment.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and testing equipment, including A/C machines and computer test devices.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks as necessary, employing tools such as MIG welders and plasma cutters.
- Execute repairs and replace faulty components in critical vehicle systems, including brakes, engines, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain accurate records of parts, fluids, and labor for each work order.
- Inspect incoming vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Prepare maintenance reports and keep detailed maintenance history files.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required; an Associate's degree in Automotive Service Management Technology is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in automotive, truck, or heavy equipment repair, or equivalent training is required.
- Valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with necessary endorsements is essential.

Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues in various vehicles.
- Familiarity with the tools and methods used in automotive maintenance and repair.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and repair manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
