About the Role

Cherry Bekaert is seeking a highly experienced Tax Senior Manager or Director to join our team. As a key member of our tax practice, you will be responsible for leading complex tax engagements and providing expert guidance to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead tax engagements and develop engagement budgets, coordinate resources, and manage performance against stated objectives.
  • Provide guidance and experience to ensure that engagement risks are identified and appropriate responses are taken.
  • Review and provide feedback on the work of other tax personnel.
  • Work with engagement and client personnel to address complex tax and accounting issues.
  • Provide timely status updates and communicate with engagement partners on client service, tax, or accounting problems/issues.
  • Lead a team that provides tax and consulting services to flow-through entities and their related owners.
  • Plan to minimize tax costs incurred by employers and mitigate the effects of international employees' individual tax liabilities.
  • Serve as a formal and informal mentor to managers and senior managers.
  • Contribute to overall office efficiency by providing feedback on staff performance and participating in initiatives for ongoing staff development.
  • Identify opportunities for expanded services to prospective and existing clients.
  • Manage a network of decision makers and outside relationships to create referrals and references.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in public accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master's degree preferred.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop tax staff, seniors, managers, and senior managers.
  • Experience preparing complex federal corporate, multi-state, individual, and partnership returns.
  • Basic knowledge of financial services products.
  • Strong understanding of IRS practice and procedure.
  • Ability to review complex tax planning projects and identify additional planning opportunities.
  • Ability to understand, apply, and help staff understand and apply policies from tax quality control documents.
