Wildland Fire Management Specialist

Position Overview
This role is open to all U.S. Citizens, with no prior federal employment necessary. Candidates from CTAP and ICTAP within the local commuting area are encouraged to apply. This position is being filled under an OPM government-wide Direct Hire authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trained participant in a wildland fire team, focusing on fuel management, fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire recovery, while prioritizing firefighter safety.
- Potentially lead a small team of firefighters, acting as a situational leader during wildland fire incidents.
- Responsible for the upkeep of firefighting equipment and various hand tools, including shovels, chainsaws, Pulaskis, McLeods, water hoses, and backpack pumps.
- Engage in tasks such as combating, controlling, or extinguishing fires, constructing or patrolling firelines, rehabilitating burned areas, suppressing spot fires, felling hazardous trees, and clearing brush.
- This recruitment may be utilized to fill positions within Engine, Helitack, and IHC (Hotshot) crews across the state.
