Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Bed Coordinator in Patient Placement Services. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in coordinating patient flow and inpatient capacity management. Job Duties
  • Coordinate patient flow and inpatient capacity management in collaboration with physicians and procedural units and inpatient nursing units.
  • Ensure compliance with directives, policies, applicable laws and regulations.
  • Supervise assigned personnel within Patient Placement.
  • Assist with the orientation and integration of new employees.
  • Foster a sense of pride in employees and promote good morale.
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding patient flow activities and operations to appropriate personnel, activating established triggers for escalation as defined by Capacity Management Plan.
  • Accountable for placement of all patients for all inpatient units utilizing defined unit specific admission criteria.
  • Participate in the formulation of nursing policies and goals as well as policies affecting other departments.
  • Communicate and interpret policies, procedures and regulations to patients, visitors and staff members.
  • Communicate significant issues on individual units to oncoming management personnel.
  • Prioritize resources based on system wide assessment of bed availability.
  • Monitor occupancy trends and proactively plan for next day elective admissions, identifying trends while planning to meet expected demand for beds.
  • Carry out defined responsibilities in the disaster plan, cardiac arrest protocol, bomb threat, code orange and patient elopement procedures.
  • Support Team Leaders and nursing staff in the advancement of their management skills.
  • Provide feedback for professional practice issues.
  • Serve as administrative representative.
  • Communicate pertinent information to administrator on call regarding capacity issues.
Position Details
  • Hours: 8:00a-8:30p
  • Weekends: Rotation
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years RN work experience is required

Education and Experience

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)

Minimum of 3 years-Nursing (Required), Minimum of 1 year-Managerial/Supervisory (Preferred)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body, Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania
