Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Management Analyst to join our team at the City of Minneapolis, MN. As a Management Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the policymaking and oversight functions of the City's legislative branch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with council members, council aides, and legislative/administrative staff to develop preliminary assessments, policy briefings, or formal reports on topics as requested by the City Council.
  • Manage and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project work teams to draft project scope, schedule meetings, facilitate discussions, and develop reports or presentations.
  • Participate in and facilitate legislative research, policy, and programmatic analysis.
  • Research and analyze a broad range of policies, procedures, and programs using various analytical techniques to develop policy briefings and reports.
  • Collaborate with council offices, City administration, and external groups to conduct comparative analyses that help identify barriers or opportunities for policy revision, replacement, and framework design.
  • Coordinate primary and secondary research efforts, including good practice studies, literature review, academic or professional reports, and survey work to provide support to legislative policymaking.
  • Perform data collection from a wide range of sources and conduct analysis on data sets to identify trends or patterns.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in the public sector performing management duties.
  • Ability to relate to and work effectively with people from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience working in a political environment.
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal communication skills.
