Position Overview

MedTrans, a division of Medline, operates a dedicated fleet of skilled drivers responsible for delivering essential medical supplies to various clients, including both commercial and residential sectors. Our extensive fleet comprises over 1,700 modern trucks, ensuring efficient service across a network of more than 50 distribution centers nationwide, with a commitment to 1-day shipping for 95% of the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maneuver a yard tractor to shuttle trailers and containers within designated areas, often navigating tight spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Maintain accurate logs in compliance with Federal and State regulations, as well as company protocols.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle to ensure operational safety and reliability.
  • Verify the functionality of all safety features on the vehicle and any connected equipment during daily operations.
  • Refuel the vehicle as necessary to maintain operational readiness.
  • Exhibit clear communication skills for effective radio transmissions.
  • Perform daily inventory checks of trailers in the yard, ensuring organization and efficiency.
  • Prepare empty trailers for loading and manage the staging of loaded trailers in designated drop areas.
  • Affix packing lists and seals on trailers as directed by the shipping coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in tractor-trailer or commercial driving is required.
  • Preferred 2 years of experience as a yard hostler.
  • Must possess a valid license to operate the assigned vehicle.
  • Must meet all Federal and State requirements for commercial motor vehicle operation.
  • A clean driving record with no serious violations is essential.
  • Availability to work at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with flexibility for overtime as needed.
  • A professional appearance for both the driver and the vehicle is required.
  • Exceptional driving skills, particularly in backing up trailers, are necessary.

Compensation:

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $35.75. This range is an estimate, and actual compensation may vary based on location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role may also be eligible for bonuses and incentives.

Our benefits package includes health insurance, life and disability coverage, 401(k) contributions, and paid time off for employees working 30 or more hours per week on average. For those working fewer than 30 hours per week, benefits include 401(k) contributions and access to the Employee Assistance Program, Employee Resource Groups, and the Employee Service Corp.
