The Importance of Behavioral Health:
The Avera Behavioral Health Adult C Unit is designed to provide a structured, therapeutic atmosphere for adults to gain insight into their conditions, develop Crisis Response Plans, utilize effective coping strategies, and set and achieve personal goals.

- The Adult C Unit consists of 26 beds

- Student Loan Repayment: This Registered Nurse (RN) role qualifies for Avera's Student Loan Repayment Program, which assists in reducing your loan balance. Avera contributes an additional payment of $167 monthly (up to $10,000) to help accelerate your loan repayment.

Job Responsibilities
The Nursing Department at Avera McKennan expects all nurses to deliver competent nursing care and exhibit professionalism in their role as an RN. The position aligns with the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope and standards of practice. The Registered Nurse is accountable for employing the nursing process to provide care to patients, taking responsibility for their actions and the outcomes of care delivered during their shifts.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is highly preferred. Graduation from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meet multi-state licensure requirements.
- Specialty certification is encouraged.
- Membership in a professional nursing organization is encouraged.
Work Schedule
- Varied shifts available
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is outlined below. Actual pay will be determined based on experience.
- $45.25 per hour
- $3 SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL for hours worked between 7 PM and 7 AM, $2 on weekends, and $5 on weekend nights
