Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field explorations, collect samples, observe construction, conduct geologic reconnaissance, create maps, and write field reports.
  • Proficiency with drilling techniques, including hollow stem auger, down-hole bucket auger, rotary coring.
  • Analyze laboratory data, perform limited soil index property laboratory testing, and report results.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, clients, and staff at various levels.
  • Assist with business development and marketing activities, including proposal preparation.
  • Fully comply with Shannon & Wilson's Quality Assurance policy.
  • Fully adhere to and promote Shannon & Wilson's Health & Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Engineering Geology, with a preference for supported BS degrees.
  • 0-6 years of experience as a Geologist, including soil sampling and some testing experience.
  • Possess or be prepared to take the LG exam.
  • Experience in geologic interpretation using soil and rock samples from explorations, soil classifications, Puget Sound geology, and glacial geology.
  • Knowledge of application to geotechnical engineering practice (rock mechanics experience beneficial) and observation of earthwork, pile/shaft foundation, and retaining structure construction beneficial.

Estimated Salary Range: $46,100.00 - $101,400.00 per year, depending on qualifications and level placement.
