About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented General Merchandise Expert to join our team at Target. As a General Merchandise Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring that our sales floor is stocked, accurately priced, and visually appealing for our guests. You will also be responsible for executing daily and weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming experience for our guests by authentically greeting them and providing excellent customer service.
  • Observe and respond to guest needs, using body language and verbal cues to tailor your approach.
  • Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their specific needs and providing solutions to their problems.
  • Be knowledgeable about our products and services, and use that knowledge to solve issues for our guests and improve their experience.
  • Thank guests in a genuine way and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target.
  • Ensure that our sales floor is zoned, in stock, and accurately signed and priced for our guests.
  • Acknowledge guests as you complete your workload with minimal disruption, and partner with leadership to prioritize daily workload based on business and guest needs.
  • Execute inbound, replenishment, backroom, and signing processes for General Merchandise areas.
  • Execute processes including pricing, presentation sets, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
  • Understand how operational procedures impact shortage, profitability, in-store replenishment, and inventory accuracy.
  • Operate power equipment only if certified.
  • Follow processes accurately with attention to detail, monitor your own progress, and demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others, identify and correct hazards, and comply with all safety policies and best practices.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes, and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties.

Requirements
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Work both independently and with a team.
  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
  • Attention to detail and follow a multi-step process.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
  • Able to accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Climb up and down ladders.
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and reliable and prompt attendance necessary.
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties.
