Psychiatric Technician

This position reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager, Intensive Psychiatric Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic milieu, with age-specific behavioral management practices.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, implement, and facilitate various skill training and theme-specific groups to improve patient functioning.
- Role model skills to patients, such as communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team, documenting and communicating pertinent information to the treatment team.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, feeding, and dressing.
- Contribute to meeting fluctuating staffing needs by adjusting scheduled hours and assignments as needed.
- A minimum of a high school degree or GED equivalent is required; an Associate's degree in psychology or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support is required upon hire or within the new employee introductory orientation period.
- Training in PMT and de-escalation techniques is required, with certification within 6 months of hire.
- Strong verbal communication skills using the English language are essential.
- Ability to function in an environment where multitasking is necessary.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and the ability to role model effective coping skills.
- Ability to take swift and efficient action, including patient restraint when responding to patient emergency codes.
