Newborn Hearing Screener

We are seeking a skilled Newborn Hearing Screener to join our team at UTMB Health. As a key member of our healthcare support services team, you will be responsible for performing newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Preparation: Prepare equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks.
- Hearing Screenings: Perform automated hearing screenings and obtain, import, and/or enter patient demographic information into screening equipment/database.
- Result Management: Download screening results from hearing screening device into database, chart screening results in electronic medical records, and prepare screening result letters.
- Coordination: Arrange and coordinate follow-up for outpatient screening appointments and participate in preparation of the monthly screener schedules.
- Confidentiality: Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility.
- High school or equivalent.
- Must be able to successfully complete the following training requirements: Automated hearing screening, Infection control, universal precautions, and CPR.
- 60 hours of college credit preferred, healthcare experience preferred.
- Good computer skills, including data entry; basic verbal skills; good interpersonal skills; able to use automated optoacoustic emission and auditory brainstem response screening equipment.
Work 20 hours per week.
CompensationSalary commensurate with experience.
