**Job Title:** Medical Oncology Care Specialist

**Overview:

The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Oncology department. This exciting opportunity allows you to cross-train and build your skills in oncology nursing, working alongside experienced professionals who are dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

**About the Job:**

As a Medical Oncology Care Specialist, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing treatment for various types of cancer. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in managing complex patient cases, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring seamless transitions between care settings.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Provide individualized patient care, adhering to evidence-based guidelines and best practices in oncology nursing;
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care, including medication management, vital sign monitoring, and symptom assessment;
  • Develop and implement individualized patient education plans to promote health literacy and empowerment;
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimize care delivery processes;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, using EPIC charting software to ensure timely and effective communication among healthcare providers.

**Requirements:**

  • A valid compact or state nursing license required at the time of submission;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in PCU/Stepdown required; oncology experience preferred but not required;
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications required;
  • Familiarity with Pyxis medication system and ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias;
  • Ability to work rotating day and night shifts every 4 weeks, with alternating weekend shifts required.
