Position Title: Special Education Instructional Assistant

Purpose of the Role:
This role is designed to offer educational support, supervision, and assistance within the school environment. The Instructional Assistant will work closely under the guidance of certified staff members and the administration to facilitate a productive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee student activities both inside and outside the educational facility.
  • Implement behavioral strategies to support students as necessary.
  • Provide coverage during meal times for fellow staff members.
  • Assist in classrooms dedicated to special education.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding student records and information.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Encourage student participation in various school events and activities.
  • Adhere to district policies and remain informed about updates and changes.
  • Participate in school meetings and events, such as staff gatherings and open houses.
  • Contribute to building committees as needed.
  • Attend departmental meetings and relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervising educators or administrators.

Compensation and Benefits:

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess an Associate degree or higher, or equivalent educational credits, or pass the ETS paraeducator assessment.
  • Demonstrate a history of reliable attendance.
  • Exhibit a genuine interest and aptitude for fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with educational staff and students.
  • Knowledge or experience related to academic challenges is preferred.
  • Completion of the Paraeducator Fundamental Course of Study is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
