Job Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will provide technical and specialized skills in the operation of Breast Ultrasound Imaging procedures on UT MDACC patients. This role is responsible for daily operations of the Ultrasound section, patient workflow, equipment maintenance, and quality assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate all routine, portable, and intraoperative ultrasound equipment independently.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with age-specific needs, protocols, and communication of results.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound cross-sectional anatomy, disease processes, and evaluation of resulting data.
  • Perform procedures as prescribed by DI Faculty.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients and peers, practicing ultrasound safety using ALARA concepts.
  • Effectively communicate and work with patients, family members, and UTMDACC staff to ensure high-quality diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide education, training, and mentoring to students, technologists, nursing, faculty, and others.
  • Maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program of ultrasound technology or radiologic technology.
  • One of the following certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Sonography, Breast Sonography, or Vascular Sonography, or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
