School Nurse Substitute PRN

Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a skilled and compassionate School Nurse Substitute PRN to join our team.
Job Summary:
The School Nurse Substitute PRN will provide medical care and support to students in a school setting. This role requires a strong understanding of individual education plans and the physical needs of children with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medical procedures and maintenance health treatments within the school.
- Coordinate documentation for the delivery of services.
- Participate in IEP meetings as needed.
- Maintain current documentation on students with health-related issues.
- Oversee proper storage of medication.
- Provide health-related updates on students for staff and parents in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
- Administer medications to students who are unable to self-administer.
- Work cooperatively with staff and administration to support the school system's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Provide first aid and maintain health records of students.
- Assist in programs for the care of disabled children.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a current valid license by the State of Tennessee Department of Health Related Boards as a Licensed Nurse and be able to work in a variety of school environments with frequent distractions and interruptions.
Physical Demands:
The School Nurse Substitute PRN must have sufficient physical strength and ability to independently lift and transfer children weighing up to 50 pounds and to lift and transfer children weighing over 50 pounds with assistance.
Working Conditions:
The School Nurse Substitute PRN will be exposed to foul odors, loud noises, bodily fluids, temperature changes, and combative children.
Terms of Employment:
Hourly rate set annually by the Board of Education. Non-exempt.
