Refugee Resettlement Specialist

Come join our dynamic team at the Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement, where we empower refugees and immigrants to thrive in their new home. As a Housing Specialist, you will be part of our esteemed Resettlement & Placement (R&P) Program.

The R&P Program is a vital entity within our organization, providing essential housing support and education for newly arrived refugees. Our team has successfully provided safe and affordable housing to over 900 individuals in Nebraska since 2022.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in assisting with the procurement of suitable housing and ongoing support for our clients in Omaha and Lincoln. You will work closely with our program manager and other colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

This position requires strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and a deep understanding of diverse backgrounds. You will provide trauma-informed services to refugees and qualified immigrants, ensuring a positive resettlement experience and fostering client self-sufficiency.

• Locate and secure suitable housing for large refugee families in Omaha using our Landlord Contacts & Lease Information directory.
• Ensure safe and affordable housing options are available when identified.
• Clearly explain leasing agreements and housing procedures to refugee families with interpreter support as needed.
• Address minor maintenance issues and educate clients on rent payments, utilities, and landlord interactions during case closure.
• Provide accurate case notes for reports.
• Coordinate timely pre- and post-arrival services to ensure clients have living essentials and are oriented to their new environment.
