Geriatric Nursing Educator Lead

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned nursing professional to join our team as a Nurse Educator Lead. In this capacity, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive orientation programs for new employees, with a focus on regulatory compliance, staff development, and resident care. You'll work closely with our Director of Nursing (DON) to promote teamwork and quality care initiatives. Your expertise will help ensure that our staff has the knowledge and skills needed to provide top-notch care to our residents.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement corporate-approved orientation programs for all employees, emphasizing regulatory issues, LTC best practices, and Bethesda values
• Conduct General Orientation sessions using corporate guidelines, incorporating relevant OSHA and Federal/State regulations
• Incorporate staff and resident safety training into the program, including emergency preparedness, fire safety, security, and injury prevention
• Coordinate and monitor orientation activities throughout the process
• Evaluate orientee learning needs and recommend release from or extension of orientation as necessary
• Assist with mentor programs and promote a culture of staff development through open communication and encouragement
• Develop lesson plans and conduct in-service programs, including mandatory in-services, based on staff needs and State surveys
• Teach basic computer skills related to job duties and instruct staff on accessing and using online education programs
• Work closely with the DON to promote teamwork and quality care initiatives
• Provide input into the appraisal process for staff, particularly during orientation
• Act as a resource person for managers relative to departmental orientation, in-service, and staff development needs
• Conduct state-approved Nurse Assistant Training Program or CMT program as requested
• Establish facility-wide systems for infection prevention and control, including policies and procedures, to maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Develop and implement ongoing infection prevention and control programs to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infections
• Participate in continuous quality improvement (QAPI) activities to identify areas for improvement and develop educational programs accordingly
Requirements
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• BSN or related baccalaureate preparation in education preferred
• Current RN license in Missouri and Illinois
• CPR/AED certification required or willing to obtain within six months of employment
• Certified as a CPR instructor highly desirable
• Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control through accredited continuing education
• Minimum of five years of recent clinical nursing experience required
• Educational and supervisory/management experience preferred
• Previous experience in long-term care required
Salary Range
$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience
