Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of educational programs and services to support student learning and achievement.
  • Provide instructional support to teachers and students, including lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, and staff to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement instructional strategies and materials.

Requirements

  • Associate of Arts Degree or 48 units from an accredited institution, or passing score on a locally-administered proficiency exam.
  • Demonstrated experience in using judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Two (2) years of instructional assistant experience, working with high-risk, adjudicated, or incarcerated youth, is desirable.
  • Bilingual is desirable.
  • Incumbents may be required to possess valid First-Aid and CPR Certificates.
  • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License.
  • Provide proof of automobile insurability.
  • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
