About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at ENGIE North America Inc. as a key player in developing cutting-edge energy storage solutions.

This position requires technical expertise in battery storage technologies, with a focus on lithium-ion batteries. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying project requirements, designing battery energy storage systems, specifying system components, and supporting the business development team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a minimum of seven years of experience in renewable systems engineering. Profound technical knowledge, particularly in the realm of battery storage technologies or renewable energy systems, is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop battery energy storage systems, including batteries, inverters, transformers, substations, protection and controls, battery management and energy management systems
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to specify suitable system components and define system designs
  • Manage all technical aspects of project execution, from design to operation, including primary EPC engineering interface
  • Provide support to internal business teams in engaging prospective utility companies and Authority Having Jurisdiction
  • Identify and articulate business development requirements
  • Formulate high-level detailed system design drawings and layouts for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Primary interface with the project Owner's Engineer
  • Ensure ENGIE's BESS internal guidelines are followed
  • Train Operations & Maintenance (O&M) technicians and support with troubleshooting system issues
  • Responsible for oversight, considering company policies and procedures, codes and standards, and regulations, of engineering consultants' and other contractors' electrical designs and construction as required to deliver the assigned projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in renewable systems engineering
  • Extensive expertise in battery technology for storage applications
  • Ability to create, read and interpret construction plans and specifications
