Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing financial transactions and data management for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate will have experience with financial software systems and strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and reconcile financial documents for payment and day-to-day financial transactions
  • Coding and recording invoices, in-kind assistance, and pay applications from the proper accounts
  • Processing utility payments and tracking of utilities accounts
  • Devising, preserving, and making entries on all applicable trackers and workbooks
  • Performing queries and data validation through internal accounting systems
  • Researching transactions for coding accuracy, researching previous coding, and ensuring data completeness
  • Inputting, uploading, and validating payment information on various projects
  • Uploading reports to internal systems for staff queries
  • Assembling and sustaining project financial transaction records
  • Organizing and safeguarding all departmental document files, databases, and spreadsheets in accordance with a variety of guidelines
  • Coding, updating, validating, and inputting a variety of utility payments as well as identifying payment lapses to ensure completion
  • Participating in a variety of internal and external committees
Requirements
  • Three years of technical accounting experience that included one year of strong maneuvering, manipulating, and linking data between a variety of electronic software systems
  • OR Two years of college, university or non-correspondence business school which included eighteen (18) semester credit hours of accounting can substitute for up to two years of the required experience in addition to one year of strong maneuvering, manipulating, and linking data between a variety of electronic software systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in the State Accounting System, CORE
  • Fluency/experience within the EnergyCap database
  • Fluency in Federal Accounting Systems such as GFEBS, and PRIDE
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (written skills may be evaluated based upon submitted application)
  • Prior Federal financial training in Resource Management, Fiscal Law, and Cooperative Agreements
Conditions of Employment
  • Must be willing to travel between Colorado Army National Guard facilities throughout Colorado and to training outside of Colorado
  • Must be able to pass a background check at initial employment
  • Continued employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a security clearance within the first six months of employment
