**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Adjunct Instructor to teach in our Dental Assisting Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and teaching classes, as assigned, and will be expected to maintain a positive professional attitude towards students and teaching.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Assure students attain the objectives of each course.
  • Report to and provide a periodic performance appraisal to the Dental Assisting Program Director.
  • Become familiar with program goals and understand course materials.
  • Offer a positive professional attitude towards students and teaching.
  • Attend meetings as necessary for program planning.
  • Maintain current files on all students.
  • Provide proper student counseling with the Program Director when needed.
  • Teach courses agreed upon by the Program Director.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required for this position.
  • In addition, the candidate must meet one of the following educational requirements:
    • Be a graduate of a CODA accredited Dental Assisting program.
    • RDH, or Dentist.
  • The candidate must maintain a current Healthcare Provider BLS certificate and have a minimum of three years dental related experience within the past five years.
  • A dental assistant applying for this position must also be a CDA.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level.

**Technical Competencies:**

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fair and unbiased manner.
  • Maintain a pleasant, professional relationship with students and faculty/staff.
  • Skill in the operation of work-related computers.
  • Appropriate oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate information to students who might function at the new, beginning, or advanced level.
  • Effective human relations, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills.
