Job Overview:
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Fiber Optical Technicians. This role involves the installation, splicing, troubleshooting, and testing of Fiber Optic systems for both new and existing projects. Technicians will also provide around-the-clock emergency response support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project supervisors to strategize installations.
- Install, repair, and test fiber optic cables in diverse environments, including underground, indoor, and aerial settings.
- Terminate cables using various connectors.
- Conduct testing with OTDRs, Power Meters/Light Sources, and Visual Fault Locators (VFLs).
- Document and record testing results according to customer specifications.
- Adhere to safety protocols while performing daily tasks.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with colleagues and clients.
- Deliver quality workmanship that exceeds industry standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation and schematics.
- Experience in mechanical and fusion splicing.
- Understanding of fiber counts and color coding.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with testing equipment.
- Experience in fiber optic construction, maintenance, and testing.
- Detail-oriented with a mechanical aptitude.
- Valid Driver's License; CDL Class A certification is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
Employees may need to work in various weather conditions and should be prepared for physical demands including:
- Standing for 6 to 8 hours daily.
- Walking for 4 to 6 hours daily.
- Lifting weights up to 100 lbs occasionally.
