Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Carle Health, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing routine and specialized ultrasound examinations. You will work independently to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients for examinations, maintaining a clean work area, and verifying pertinent accessories assigned to each room.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform ultrasound procedures within guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients.
Exhibit competency in performing ultrasound procedures, including obtaining accurate histories and explaining rationale for procedures to patients/families.
Enhance image quality through the use of appropriate transducers and machine settings, and evaluate finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are being submitted to radiologists.
Maintain quality care throughout procedures, assess the abdominal arterial & venous system using color imaging, and maintain working knowledge of equipment to function in all areas of ultrasound.

Requirements:

Associate's Degree in Ultrasound or Related field OR Certificate in Radiologic Technology.
Certification & Licensure Requirements: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification upon hire, and BLS within 30 days of hire.
Basic reading, writing, and oral English skills, as well as multicultural sensitivity, customer/patient focus, and basic computer knowledge.
