We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team at First Choice Community Health Centers. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing and collections for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, analyze, and summarize third-party billings, accounts pending, and late charges data and trends.
- Post all cash receipts and insurance payments to our electronic health record system.
- Research and follow up on all denials for payment.
- Complete all second insurance filings.
- Review charges from daily batches and maintain monthly deposit journals.
- Assist with reconciling electronic health record system end-of-day reports to deposit journals.
- Report received payments to our accounting manager for all services to be reimbursed to physicians.
- Cover vacancies at the patient representative position during vacations, sickness, or vacant positions.
- Maintain accurate ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS codes within our electronic health record system.
- Complete all required procedures on our electronic health record system.
- Research all credit accounts receivable balances and perform required follow-up to resolve credit balances.

- Assist in preparation of all monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and other required reporting as required by governing agencies.
- Assist our billing manager in completion of all annual cost reports, annual financial audits, annual UDS reports, and any other required annual governmental reporting.
- High school diploma required; associate's degree in medical billing and coding preferred.
- Minimum of two years progressive billing experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply basic concepts of mathematics and computations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Competency required in the areas of communication, excellent verbal and written skills.
- Use of computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
