Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Stellant Systems in Torrance, CA. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems for our microwave devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thermal and structural analyses using analytical methods, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Support environmental testing of hardware, including thermal tests, vibration, and shock testing
  • Troubleshoot and test equipment, write reports, and review test data
  • Design and draft development or updated assemblies and tooling using 3D CAD software
  • Conduct experiments and perform verification testing to ensure efficacy of proposed solutions
  • Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop new products that meet or exceed performance, cost, and schedule metrics

Requirements:

  • 6 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated proficiency with 3D CAD software (Pro/E and/or SolidWorks preferred) and manufacturing methods
  • Experience with computer-based simulation and analysis tools (e.g. Ansys, Mechanica, SolidWorks Simulation, etc.)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with basic metrology equipment (e.g. calipers, micrometers, etc.), thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gages, electronic equipment (e.g. multi-meter, oscilloscope, etc.)
  • Experience in interpreting customer specifications into test requirements and comparing against test data

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with manufacturing, specifically in the fields of dispenser cathodes, vacuum hardware, brazing, RF systems, and general mechanical packaging
  • Experience with design reviews and/or root cause analysis efforts
