Job Summary

Metalico is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe processing of scrap metal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, ensuring a positive experience and building strong relationships.
  • Material Handling: Operate forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment to unload/load customer vehicles and/or trucks, and move pallets/containers to the appropriate location.
  • Scrap Metal Processing: Sort and process scrap metal according to grade and size, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Computer Experience: Make necessary transaction entries to capture specific metal purchased and weights, utilizing computer systems to track and manage inventory.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with material inventory as necessary, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, responding to changing priorities and deadlines.
Requirements
  • Education: High School degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in material handling, forklift operation, or scrap metal processing an asset.
  • Skills: Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and ability to learn and apply knowledge of metal grades and processing procedures.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers, and customers.
