Job Summary

This position is responsible for the inspection, analysis, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems within the Department of Corrections facilities. The successful candidate will have experience in construction or repair of structures, general maintenance and repairs, and operating powered grounds maintenance equipment. The position requires physical ability to perform manual labor, climb, bend, crawl, and lift, and may work in cold, hot, or dusty environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and analyze equipment to diagnose malfunctions and perform maintenance and repairs

• Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment and systems, including electrical, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, locks and security doors, fire control, and fuel storage and delivery

• Operate groundskeeping equipment, such as plow trucks, snow blowers, and mowers

• Use blueprints and schematics to make repairs to the facility's structure and fixtures

• Provide supervision and training of inmates in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments and maintain security in the work environment

• Keep maintenance records and research needed parts and equipment for repairs or improvements and submit selections for purchase

Requirements

• Experience or training in construction or repair of structures

• Experience or training in general maintenance and repairs

• Experience operating powered grounds maintenance equipment

• Physical ability to perform manual labor, climb, bend, crawl, and lift, and work in cold, hot, or dusty environments
