InSite Chemist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced InSite Chemist to join our team at Clean Harbors. As a key member of our InSite program, you will be responsible for assisting with waste management operations, including inspections, prepping shipments, labeling, and packing hazardous waste on customer sites.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct waste pickups at laboratories as needed.
• Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restrictions notifications.
• Identify unknown laboratory chemicals when encountered.
• Perform inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
• Inspect storage areas for leaks or spills.
• Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations.
• Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
• Sampling and profiling of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing.
• Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork.
• Utilize CHOICE waste management software to efficiently and accurately manage waste programs.
• Assign proper waste codes to all materials designated for disposal.
• Maintain and manage waste profile data.
• Evaluate specialty waste materials, such as gas cylinders and potentially explosive compounds, and determine disposal options.

Requirements:

• 2 years of college or specialized training in chemistry, biology, or environmental science.
• 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
• 40 Hour OSHA Training, Forklift Training and certification, Reactive Materials certification, DOT Training, and CleanPack Chemist Training Course.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a commercial driver's license (Class B/C) with hazardous materials endorsement (preferred).

Working Conditions:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Travel:

10% - 25% of the time.
